INDONESIA URGES SOLUTION TO IRAN NUCLEAR DISPUTE
Indonesia urged all concerned parties on Thursday
(6/3/08) to settle the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program
through a process of dialogue involving the European Union
and France, Germany, Britain, the US, China and Russia, presidential
spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said, according to Xinhua.
"As there has been an offer for the EU plus three plus
three dialogues, we urge all concerned parties to use the
opportunity for the dialogues," Djalal told a press conference
at the State Palace.
He said that the EU plus three (France, Germany, United Kingdom),
plus three (Russia, China and the US) dialogues had been offered
after the issuance of the recent UN resolution of additional
sanctions on Iran.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will discuss the nuclear
issue with Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinezhad and Supreme
Leader Ayatollah Khamene'i during a visit to Iran on March
10 to 11, said Djalal.
The spokesman reaffirmed Indonesian’s stand of supporting
Iranian nuclear development for peaceful purposes and said
Indonesia wanted Iran persistently and transparently cooperate
with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Indonesia abstained on the recent additional UN resolution
on additional sanctions on Iran.
