THE ASEAN FLAG IS RAISED ALONGSIDE THE NATIONAL FLAG OF INDONESIA

The flag of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was raised for the first time together with the national flag of Indonesia during a ceremony conducted at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Berlin on 08 August 2011 to commemorate the 44th anniversary of ASEAN. As of this day, the ASEAN flag will be permanently hoisted together with the national flag of Indonesia. The two banners will also be raised at the Residence of the Ambassador. The ceremony was conducted amidst participation by the entire Embassy staff, the Dharma Wanita (association of the wives of the Indonesian civil servants), students and members of the Indonesian community in Berlin. The same ceremony was conducted simultaneously at nine other missions of ASEAN member states in Berlin.

“Wonderful Indonesia” is the new tourism branding of Indonesia introduced by the Director General for Tourism Marketing of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Indonesia, Dr. Sapta Nirwandar, who will lead the Indonesian delegation to the International Tourism Börse (ITB) Berlin 2011. Indonesia, taking part this year for the 31st time in the world’s largest travel and tourism fair, will occupy the strategically located Hall 26 A and will conduct a number of events, including exhibition, travel exchange, media interview, cultural performance, awareness campaign, industrial gathering and other attractive demonstrations.

The Government of Indonesia strongly condemns the outrageous and inhumane terrorist attacks in Alexandria, Egypt, on 1st of January 2011, that caused 21 deaths and injured dozens of innocent people. The Government of Indonesia conveys its deepest sympathy and condolences to the Government and People of Egypt and the victims along with their bereaved families. The Government of Indonesia supports the efforts of the Government of Egypt to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Guido Westerwelle, for the first time participated in a working luncheon of the Asia-Pacific Ambassadors’ Group in Berlin. The luncheon which was also attended by 18 ambassadors, 3 Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and 2 Deputy Chiefs of Mission was hosted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Berlin, Eddy Pratomo, at his residence in Berlin-Dahlem. The German Minister was accompanied by the Head of Department for Asia-Pacific Affairs and by 4 other officials of the Ministry.
INDONESIAN BUSINESS DAY IN MUNICH: INDONESIA AS ONE OF BUSINESS PARTNER FOR GERMANY

The Indonesian Business Day that had been organized jointly by the three representations of the Republic of Indonesia to Germany was conducted successfully. More than 115 German enterprises interested in trade and investment in Indonesia attended the conference and more than 25 enterprises made use of the possibility of one-to-one-meetings.
